Dayna Alane Smith aka Alley Cat was born in Western North Carolina, attended Appalachian State University and received a Communications and Theatre Education Degree and attended University of South Carolina and received a maters in theatre education. She came out to herself as trans in 1996 and transitioned in 2006 to present female full time. She started doing poetry open mics in Columbia, SC and performing pieces about being trans in the South and has become a poet activist for the trans community. She has competed in The Southern Fried Poetry Slam and the Women of the World Poetry Slam. For more, check her out on Facebook.
