
SouF Cacalac Washingtonian, Spoken Word Artist, host, emcee, motivational speaker, activist and poetry teacher Charity Joyce Blackwell has been continued to utilize her gifts to advocate for social change. As a queer woman of color and daughter of former NAACP president, Charity has always leveraged her crafts to uplift the LGBTQ and African American communities. Her magnetic flow and fierce performance style has demanded the attention of international platforms such as BBC News and introduced her to stages all across the DMV and east coast. Since her early college days, Charity’s natural stage presence and charm has led her many hosting opportunities, including events such as the 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 Poetry SLAMS for DC SCORES, the America SCORES New York National Poetry SLAM for 2015 and 2016, Busboys and Poets Open Mic (2016), Spoken World Poetry, Culture SHOCKDMV (2017), and Our Words Our City Poetry Show Case (2017). Charity is currently working on her first book poems as she continues to support her communities.
