7:00pm     Alchemy: Celebrating the Works of TGNC Authors-Hosted by Dane Edidi  $10
9:00pm    Queer Squared: An evening of dynamic duos featuring All Her Muses and #BlackTransMagick performed by J Mase III and Kokumo   $10
10:00pm     Queer Cookie Slam hosted by Gowri K. This event features Capturing Fire poets competing in the preliminary bout of the Capturing Fire 2017 slam. $10

Rehearsal Room #2: awQward Camp TQPOC Artist Teach In – a free two-day teach in for trans & queer artists of color.

10:00am – 11:00am Fleshing It Out: Writing identity from the lens of the body with Sonya Renee Taylor This workshop will help participants use the body as a site of vulnerability and honesty in their work.  Ticket price: $10 Rehearsal Room #2: NO EVENT
11:00am – 12:30pm Where Collage Meets Poetry: A multi-media workshop Host: Cali Bee

Come explore how visual art and written words can work together to tell different sides of a single story. There are virtually endless ways various art mediums can play with each other to create a deeper, richer piece. this workshop will focus on the art of collaging. Each participant will make an original collage from (provided) magazines and glue sticks. Using the collages, we just made as inspiration we will each write a short poem weaving the images we selected even closer together. Ticket Price $10

Awqward Camp: Diving into The Queer Brownness of Me Host: Regie Cabico

We will write a poem inspired by the political passions of Audre Lorde and Essex Hemphill, exploring gesture and imagery from the page to the stage. We will mirror, spit gibberish & onomatopoeia, build body sculptures. Feel free to bring a poem memorized or delivered from the notebook and a packet of your emotional colors. We will also discuss the role of brown bodies & voices on the slam stage and how to empower our queer truths.

3:30pm – 5:00pm That’s So They: A Gender Non-Confirming Showcase

We are beautiful moments of nature, clumsy complimenters and binge watchers. Some of us like wine gums, while others prefer stick shifts and rhyming couplets. We’re not just a strange melding of two stick people washroom pictures or a questionable line of clothing at the Gap – By Ellen. We’re poets, we’re satirists, we’re lovers, fighters and we’re excited to show you what we’ve got, in our notebooks. Tickets: $10

Saturday, June 10, 2017 –  Saturday Night Slam Events

There will be two groups of poets competing in the Semi-Final slam events. They are labeled Group 1 and Group 2.

Group 1 will complete at Busboys and Poets 14th and V. Group 2 will complete at Coffy Café. Both events will happen at 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Please see the details of below.

The poet listing by location will be available Saturday, June 10 by 9am. Ticket purchased for the Semi-Final Slam are transferable between locations.
